2010 Synod Convention Report
1. Highlights during the last biennium including information about ecumenical/wider church partnerships as well as tasks and/or events that focus on ministry that is fulfilling in God’s mission in the world, and what God has been doing through our committee work and mandate:

Activities:
- Requested and received appointment of an Anglican representative on the committee – The Rev. Jennifer Sisson
- Requested and received the appointment of Joanne Stewart to the committee.
- Reported to Synod Council
- Received the resignation of the Synod Liaison.
- Authorized Duane Gaukel to attend that National Worship Conference on behalf of MNO Synod. Duane reported back on the conference Order and Chaos
- A worship workshop Exploring Order and Chaos in Worship was prepared offering the gleanings of the National Worship Conference and a Narrative Holy Communion Service on February 21, 2009. Due to low registrations, this workshop was postponed to October 24.
- The October 24th date for a worship workshop came into conflict with the date of the MNO Synod Celebration of Faith event. The full day workshop was reduced to a 2 hour presentation of October 22. Due to low registration, this event was cancelled. On behalf of the MNO Synod members, this committee thanks The Rev. Jamie Howison, Gord Johnson, Karen Jackson and Duane Gaukel for the work they put into planning the workshop.
- Arranged for the act of Order of Confession and Forgiveness on October 23rd at the Celebration of Faith. This committee thanks The Rev. Lynne Hutchison for providing leadership for this order.
- Arranged for the Celebration of Holy Communion at the Celebration of Faith. W& A thanks the altar guild at Lutheran Church of the Cross for their care of Eucharist preparation.
- Received the resignation of Joanne Stewart.
- Prepared report to 2010 Synod Convention
- Prepared budget request to Synod Convention
- Arranged for the opening worship at the 2010 MNO Convention.
2. Mission and Ministry initiatives in the next biennium that address our theme and vision: In Mission With Others – Led by God’s Word:
- Authorized Karen Jackson to attend the National Worship Conference, TAKING CARE OF THE NEIGHBOURHOOD: WORSHIP AS PUBLIC WORK FOR THE COMMON GOOD Sunday, 4 July 2010 to Wednesday, 7 July 2010
- Is planning a worship workshop for October 23. 2010 based on the National Worship Conference.
- Will meet twice a year as per year.
- Will prepare worship and liturgical leadership for MNO Synod events including 2012 MNO Synod Convention.
