Healthy Boundaries Workshop
March 20 @ 9:30 am - 4:30 pm
For MNO Rostered Ministers…
As many of you know, the new ELCIC Employment Agreement includes the following:
“…the ongoing obligations of the Ordained Minister/Diaconal Minister & the Congregation specify that:
2. a.v. the Ordained Minister/Diaconal Minister must provide the employer with certification of participation in ‘Healthy Boundaries’ training every five years;”
In accordance with this requirement, the synod office has arranged for a “HEALTHY BOUNDARIES WORKSHOP 2018,” facilitated by National Bishop Susan Johnson.
We have secured resources for leaders and participants from the Faith Trust Institute, Seattle.
This workshop will look at the issues that impact those in the role of leadership in faith communities.Founded on a theological and ethical discussion of power and vulnerability, it focuses on the particular roles that pastoral caregivers fulfill within a spiritual community. This curriculum was developed to strengthen the understanding of the needs for boundaries, as a method of self-care and community care.
At the conclusion of the Workshop, all participants will receive a Certification of Participation in compliance with this requirement.
If you are unable to attend the workshop, please let Bishop Elaine know where you will be obtaining this requirement (i.e. through online courses, etc.). For those of you living a fair distance from the synod office, you may also check with GSI to see if your continued education plan would cover any of your transportation/accommodation costs to attend the workshop in Winnipeg.
