First United Lutheran, Flin Flon, Continues to Support Community

First United Lutheran Church in Flin Flon received an ACTS of the MNO Grant to strengthen the partnership and support of the local Salvation Army Soup Kitchen.  The Soup Kitchen is a way the congregation discerned they can stay in relationship with other churches who are working together to continue to serve their community.  With the increased restrictions, the congregational treasurer presented the cheque to the Salvation Army Majors in a unique way. Everyone was in masks and the cheque was presented using a clothespin on the end of a 2 metre long walking stick.  With the current red level restrictions the soup kitchen has had to switch to passing out bagged lunches. While this makes extra work for those managing the program, it still provides food to those that need it–and given the current economic situation, the demand has increased substantially. This group also prepares Christmas packages and delivers them to the needy.

The ACTS of the MNO Synod funds are available to ministries, groups or individuals in the MNO Synod who submit an application articulating a ministry experiment or project that is grounded in the mission of the Gospel, expands the reach and impact of the church, and responds to the reality of the context.  You can find the application and more information on the MNO synod web site.
