Leading Through Anxious Times

December 8, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

At this time of high anxiety in church and society, this presentation will focus on the blatant and subtle effects of anxiety.  Steady, thoughtful, and calm leadership is critical yet difficult to engage in such an atmosphere.  What do our own symptoms tell us?  In the effort to address the anxieties swirling around us, how might we not miss the opportunities for self-reflection and self-regulation?

Leading Through Anxious Times
Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020
7:00pm by Zoom (registration required).
Presenter information: Our presenter is Deacon Mary Ann Schwabe, Natural Systems Coordinator in the Office of the Presiding Bishop for the ELCA. Deacon Mary Ann has extensive experience in promoting well-being in leaders and congregations through the use of family systems theory. This seminar will help congregational councils understand how stress is affecting the decision-making process, and to help recognize ways that a calmer, more stable system can lead to better decisions.

We are inviting all congregational council members and actively serving clergy to attend. The presentation will be followed by an open question and answer period and then discussion in smaller breakout rooms. The link to register for this event is below. Please register early, as the invitation may be extend to other synods on Nov. 30
