Trinity Food Pantry Continues to Serve Community

2024-04-26T15:26:14-05:00

The board of the Trinity Food Pantry thanks all the generous supporters who again sent donations during the Christmas Season. The proceeds enabled the purchase of Christmas gifts for all children under thirteen as well the monthly enhancement of the food hampers. Fresh produce, milk and high protein foods are purchased to add to the supplies that Harvest provides.  When possible, feminine hygiene products are added. Hamper distribution days are every four weeks. That is down from every two weeks before COVID. And the hampers are not much larger to compensate for the change. TFP distributes about twenty hampers to about [...]

Christmas at Trinity Food Pantry

2023-11-20T15:35:17-06:00

The Trinity Food Pantry (TFP) continues to operate out of Saint Katerie Tekakwitha Roman Catholic Church. It is still known as Trinity Place to remember the history of Trinity Lutheran Church at Flora and King. Katerie was a Mohawk woman who survived a small pox epidemic. She is the first indigenous saint in North America. During COVID Harvest Manitoba experienced a great increase in demand for food. Hamper distribution was reduced from every two weeks to every four weeks. However, the hampers did not double in size. So families have to make do with less food even as prices have risen. [...]

Monthly meals were discontinued, and masks were mandated for pickup. In-kind gifts like canned and boxed foods continued to be collected through drop-in donations. Using present funds, the hampers were enhanced to include fresh produce and high protein foods. In a desire to reconnect with clients and renew relationships, in June, clients will be offered refreshments and snacks on hamper day.
