In our companion synod relationship with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cameroon (EELC), one of the areas of focus has been supporting women in leadership--and particularly women who are called to ordained ministry in the EELC. This has been the focus of several trips to Cameroon, and a number of the ordained women in the MNO Synod have had online conversations with their counterparts in Cameroon. The Urban on the Radio

Rhonda Gorham was interviewed, along with the conductor Andrea Bell, on CBC Radio weekend morning show at 7:30 a.m. on March 19. The Urban had been chosen to be the Goodwill Partner of the Mennonite Community Orchestra (MCO) for their concert at Church of the Cross this past Sunday afternoon. Ecumenical Service for WPCU

MNO Synod leaders participated and attended the city-wide ecumenical service observing the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (WPCU) on Sunday, Jan. 22. The service was organized and hosted by Father Robert Palz (Ecumenical Liaison, RC Archdiocese of Winnipeg) and St. John XXIII Catholic Parish. Using the materials created for the WPCU by the Minnesota Council of Churches, the service focused on the theme of "do good. Seek justice (Isaiah 1:17)." Ritual actions invited participants to remember the significance of the waters of baptism, as well as listen to the stories of those who have suffered from the lack of justice. [...]

ELCIC Bishops’ Pilgrimage to Israel

Beginning Jan 14, Bishop Jason, along with all of the ELCIC bishops, will be embarking on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. This pilgrimage is a time for prayer, reflection, learning, and worship. It is an opportunity for Bishop Jason to connect on a deeper level with the life and ministry of Jesus, and the story of God in lives, by walking where Jesus walked.
