In our companion synod relationship with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cameroon (EELC), one of the areas of focus has been supporting women in leadership–and particularly women who are called to ordained ministry in the EELC.  This has been the focus of several trips to Cameroon, and a number of the ordained women in the MNO Synod have had online conversations with their counterparts in Cameroon.

Recently, we have learned that one of the ordained women from Cameroon is pursuing further education in Canada (at Martin Luther University College in Waterloo, ON).  To encourage her learning and formation, the Global Mission Committee has been looking for ways to support her in this endeavour – as well as any other women in leadership from the EELC who might follow a similar path in the future.  Supporting this student’s education is to support the church as a whole, as she will serve in a position of leadership when she returns to Cameroon.

Please consider joining the MNO synod Global Mission Committee in supporting EELC women in leadership who pursue further education in Canada. Contributions from individuals and congregations are essential in building and strengthening our partnership with the EELC.  The Global Mission Committee invites you to make donations for this purpose during the month of June.  Donations should be designated for Global Mission (EELC women).

How to give:

  • Cheques can be sent to the MNO Synod office (935 Nesbitt Bay) made out to MNO Synod and designated for “Global Mission (EELC women)”.
  • Online donations can be submitted through the MNO Synod web site (select “Global Mission” from the designation list…all Global Mission donations received before July 15th through the web site will be designated for this appeal).
  • Online donations can be submitted through CanadaHelps (select “Global Mission Fund” and enter “EELC women” in the message section)

Ways to join the appeal:

  • Share this bulletin insert with your congregation and encourage donations directly to the synod
  • Designate a special offering and send collected funds to the synod office.
  • Set up a donation bucket to collect spare change
  • Include the EELC women in prayer petitions during worship June 18 & 25
  • Learn more about the MNO Synod’s companion relationship with the EELC through the synod web site.

Thank you in advance for your support of the church, ministry and leaders in Cameroon!
