June is Indigenous History Month.  As part of our commitment to reconciliation, all people in the MNO Synod are encouraged to seek out opportunities for learning and reflection this month.

Below are some events and opportunities brought to our attention that you might consider.

Indigenous Day Live 

June 18, 10 PM – 12 AM
Come together as we welcome the summer solstice and National Indigenous Peoples Day with APTN Indigenous Day Live.  Let’s “Celebrate Our Lands” through musical performances and delicious food as we return to an in-person event at The Forks in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on Saturday, June 18.

National Indigenous People’s Day at the WAG

Join us for National Indigenous Peoples Day with a concert throughout the Gallery!As part of the Inuit Studies Conference, this concert will feature DJs, bands and solo artists throughout WAG-Qaumajuq.

Kairos Blanket Exercise

The virtual KAIROS Blanket Exercise (KBE) will take place on Tuesday, June 28 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (EST). Developed in collaboration with Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers and educators, the KAIROS Blanket Exercise is an interactive and experiential teaching tool that explores the historic and contemporary relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in the land we now know as Canada.
