Devotions for Discernment
Congregations, councils, and all members of MNO Synod are invited into a process of discernment as we look to the election of a new bishop at our April synod convention. Please look at these devotions (which will be updated as convention approaches and as new devotions are made available) and prayerfully consider leadership in our synod!

Anglican/Lutheran Residential Study Conference
Mark your calendars, rostered ministers!! Clergy Residential Conference will be June 4-7, 2018, Southport Conference Centre, Portage la Prairie, MB. Registration forms will be out middle of February (info will be posted here). Please note that MNO Synod will be handling registration this year.

Life Passages - Ingrid and Richard Magnuson
Our condolences to the Magnuson family, as they mourn Ingrid who died on January 8. Very sadly, Richard Magnuson died on January 27, adding to their grief. We hold family and friends of Ingrid and Richard in thought and prayer.
Plans for a memorial service in Winnipeg on February 8th have been postponed. Information about a future date will be made available when it is known.

Accessibility Act (Manitoba)
The Province of Manitoba is requiring that non-profit organizations fulfill the Accessibility Standard in customer service by November 1, 2018. MNO Synod and Diocese of Rupert's Land are looking at making a learning event available in early-2018, with follow-up resources available afterwards. Please look into it for your local congregation - see their website.

Nominees needed for Lay and Youth Delegates to the next National Convention
As we look towards a Synod Convention in April, 2018, we need to look beyond that to the National Convention in 2019 (exact date/location not released by ELCIC, yet) - and we'll need LAY and YOUTH nominees for the ballot that will come forward at the synod convention!
If you would let your name stand, please fill out this online form - no later than March 15, 2018.
Note that to be eligible to be a nominee on the ballot, you need to be nominated either a) by church council motion; b) by congregation's AGM motion; or, c) by ten (10) members of MNO congregations.

Around the Synod

Lay Academy of Preaching (Feb 20 - Apr 24)
Coming up in February, a series of online sessions for lay leaders. Click here for more information and to register. Registration is due February 5.

Lecture series at St Paul's College, U of M (Feb 2 and after)
A luncheon seminar series held on designated Fridays during the regular sessions from 12:00 pm - 12:55 pm in the Mauro Centre Boardroom, 252 St. Paul's College.
The lectures are approximately 30 minutes in length, followed by a discussion period. The lectures are free to attend and open to students, staff, faculty and members of the public. Don't forget to bring your bagged lunch! More information here.

The Luther Village Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday, February 15th.  Please join us at Lutheran Church of the Cross at 560 Arlington, Avenue in Winnipeg at 7pm.  Check www.luthervillage.ca for a bulletin of reports over the next few days.

Our Synod office had a sewer backup occur the week of Sept, 25. Due to clean up and then ongoing renovations the synod office lower meeting room will not be available for meetings until further notice.  Synod staff will be in contact with you or post in subsequent e-news where meetings have been moved to a different site.
