2024-02-27T14:19:13-06:00

Since 2003, our MNO Synod has been blessed to have a global companion relationship with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cameroon (EELC). This relationship had its beginnings when we got to know Pastor Etienne Fomgbami and family, who came to be missionaries to us from the Cameroon. Our continuing relationship is one based on praying for one another, visiting one another, and on joint ministry priorities that are beneficial to both of our churches. Over the years, we have been blessed to have a number of people from our synod visit and work with our partners in Cameroon, as well as [...]

Global Mission Appeal (EELC Women in Leadership)

2023-06-12T10:52:53-05:00

In our companion synod relationship with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cameroon (EELC), one of the areas of focus has been supporting women in leadership--and particularly women who are called to ordained ministry in the EELC.  This has been the focus of several trips to Cameroon, and a number of the ordained women in the MNO Synod have had online conversations with their counterparts in Cameroon. Recently, we have learned that one of the ordained women from Cameroon is pursuing further education in Canada (at Martin Luther University College in Waterloo, ON).  To encourage her learning and formation, the Global Mission Committee has [...]

Submitted by Pr. Katharine Bergbusch for the Global Mission Committee Pastor Jeanne Fomgbami of our companion Lutheran church in Cameroon (EELC) was in Winnipeg this fall to visit family.  Since living in Winnipeg for three years with her husband Etienne and family in the early 2000's, Pr. Fomgbami has studied theology in Nigeria and was ordained by the EELC. While here, she was invited to preach and lead worship at Messiah Lutheran Church.  The scripture reading for the sermon was about the cost of discipleship.  Her message was clear, biblical and straightforward.  While members of the synod's Global Mission Committee met with her over [...]

Global Companion Shares Thanks and Prayers

2022-06-21T10:14:29-05:00

The MNO Synod commemorates the Day of the African Child on June 16, 2022 to accompany our Lutheran partners in Cameroon, especially with KIC--Kids in Cameroon.  This year's theme is "Right to participate:let children be seen and heard."  Good nutrition and education enable children to participate and contribute to community life.  Funding from MNO Synod provides food products and school supplies for the orphans of KIC, who are guided by social worker, Madame Fanta Gaknone.
