Synod Youth Ministry T-Shirt Design

2025-08-12T11:52:54-05:00

The winning design for this year's MNO Synod youth ministry t-shirt was submitted by Jessica Charleson, from St. Mark's, Winnipeg.  The final design was designed by Pr. Zsófi Schmiedge.  The design incorporates the CLAY theme "Rooted and Rising." The roots of the tree are hands, to remind us that our roots are strengthened when we join hands with others and stay connected in community.  The tree reminds us of the biblical themes of abiding in the life-giving branches of God's love (John 15:5) so that we bear fruit in love and service to our neighbour.  The water reminds us of the [...]

The 2023 MNO Synod Youth Fall Retreat was a success this year, with youth and leaders from seven different congregations gathering at Luther Village for a weekend of fellowship, fun, friends and food.  Thanks to grants received from the Margie Kvern Scholarship Fund (MNO synod) and from the Luther League Legacy Fund (ELCIC), this year's retreat featured the dynamic and engaging presence and leadership of Rachel Kurtz, a professional singer/songwriter from Minneapolis.  Rachel shared her music and stories with energy and enthusiasm, helping each person explore and claim their identity as beloved, while also providing some music and worship training to the band. As a new school year begins, the MNO Synod Youth Committee composed a prayer to remind students, parents, administrators, support staff, and all involved in education in any way, that we are praying for you! Gracious and loving God, thank you for the gift of education in all of its forms. We pray for all who are returning to school this fall. As they prepare to start a new school year, may confidence be their foundation. May grace and empathy be their guide, and curiosity and hope be their compass. May they have eyes to see the needs of those around [...]

Synod Youth Create Worship Banner

2022-10-12T12:25:25-05:00

As part of the Thanksgiving Retreat, youth learn and explore different aspects of worship as part of planning and preparing for Sunday morning worship.  This year, that included reflecting on and adding to a worship banner that expresses the upcoming theme for CLAY: “Ashes & Embers”.  This banner will be part of upcoming synod youth worship services in this year leading up to CLAY. Whether a congregation has youth attending CLAY or not, this banner can serve as an invitation to congregations to pray for youth and young adults in our church and the world–that they, like Moses, would have experiences [...]
