THE MNO SYNOD’S MINISTRY

The MNO Synod of the ELCIC is here to support our member churches and their rostered and lay leadership. Together with our congregations, partners, and leaders, we are here to discern and follow God’s will to nurture, serve, and lift up the people in our congregations, in our communities, in our region, and around the world. The synod accompanies congregations in all areas of ministry through resources, communication, relationship and support. We provide programs and initiatives to deepen our shared ministry, and seek to help our congregations and partners in their ministry in a variety of ways.

OUR WORK

The MNO Synod works in partnership with congregations, leaders, and ministry partners in a variety of ways. Together we seek to support and strengthen those we serve.

Congregational Support – Congregations are at the heart of our ministry as the MNO Synod–communities of people gathered around the centrality of worship, sharing and growing in faith through fellowship and learning for all ages, identifying and developing leaders, using gifts and resources for the sake of the world, and creating space for the Holy Spirit to lead in new ways.
Youth & Young Adult Ministry – We are committed to supporting, equipping and empowering youth & young adult ministry throughout the synod through resourcing leaders, facilitating connections, fostering faith formation, and participating in national church events.
Community Engagement – We engage in relationships and partnerships to share and leverage resources and gifts for the sake of the world.
Faith Formation – By lifting up the centrality of our worship and sacramental ministry, we encourage congregations and leaders to create space for the Holy Spirit to lead.

OUR PRIORITIES

EMPOWERED DISCIPLESHIP

Grounded in the centrality of worship and sacramental ministry, we seek to empower members and leaders to share their faith stories and journeys. We seek to share tools and resources to support faith formation, as we identify and develop leaders within our community and engage and empower youth and young adults. By being present in every-day moments, we hold space for the Holy Spirit to lead. Learn more about how we live into this priority from the Congregations page.

COMMUNITY AND CONNECTIONS

We have a vision for growing ministries outside of traditional Sunday church, as we seek to be an intentional presence in our communities and build relationships that foster reconciliation and social justice. We are committed to welcoming, connecting and supporting those in need. We seek opportunities for shared ministry with ecumenical, interfaith and non-faith groups. FAITHFUL TRANSFORMATION

Our rostered and lay leaders are instrumental in helping our congregations discern how we are being led by Christ to new places and new ways of building faith in a new world. We seek to equip our rostered and lay leaders to feel confident addressing fear and managing anxiety stemming from change, and addressing the changing needs of our congregations. As we accompany our leaders, we seek to balance respectful traditions and customs with emerging expressions of faith. Learn more about rostered leaders from the Pastors/Deacons page. MUTUAL SUPPORT

Mutual support is key to what it means for us to be church together for the sake of the world. We strive for strong communication and developing leaders and ministries through training and resources. We look to build relationships and partnerships to share and leverage our resources and gifts as we build an understanding of our role in the global church and faithfully steward what God has gifted us.
